Brian Dames issued a blunt threat on Tuesday that South Africa could face another bout of load shedding this winter.
The cause of the warning is the simple fact that the margin between what South Africa is using and its capacity has dropped to around 1.5%, and at some point Eskom will need to take some power off line in order to do some maintenance.
As any engineer will tell you, if Eskom does not engage in planned maintenance, the grid will definitely take matters into its own hands, and reduce its capacity for you…
