Peaker Project is too costly and inflexible

NEXT month, the National Energy Regulator of SA (Nersa) will consider licence applications for two power stations with a proposed 1020MW of peaking power capacity. That capacity is not required, the procurement process was flawed, and there are cheaper alternatives. Instead, Eskom should buy capacity from the thousands of standby diesel generators already installed across SA. ..
